Event Details

After 125 years, London Welsh RFC, a club with one of the proudest traditions in rugby, find ourselves within reach of the pinnacle of Club rugby on the field, yet struggling for survival financially.

We don't want to go into the detail of the last few months which have been well documented in the Sunday Telegraph (read full article here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/7064131/Forgery-and-fraud-in-rugby-takeover.html) and on the London Welsh website:

http://www.london-welsh.co.uk/rugby_newsroom_article.asp?id=111 however we can say that through Kelvin Bryon our key benefactor, we have now regained control of the Club; the former owner of London Welsh, Neil Hollinshead is no longer any part of it; and today (Thursday 28 January 2010) he was declared bankrupt in a London Court owing £900,000. You can draw your own conclusions as to whether there was ever any money for London Welsh.

The immediate consequence is that the club is now over £500k short of funds.

We need your help in our 125th year. London Welsh must be saved.

This is the Club that provided over 45 British Lions, including such legends as John Dawes, JPR Williams, John Taylor, Gerald Davies, Mervyn Davies, the list goes on. We are now third in the Championship, our highest position in 30 years, ranked 15th Club in England, and are readying ourselves for the Championship play offs, which we have every chance of winning.

One man's actions cannot be allowed to sink this great club!
